Music Composer | Producer | Arranger | Songwriter

Hello, my name is Levi Patel. I love to create beautiful music here in New Zealand, typically combining intimate guitar and piano composition with richly harmonic strings and delicate textures. I also work in China as 林外.

Besides my own music, I produce and engineer for other artists, arrange strings, co-write songs, and compose for film and television. I'm also building a robot.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope you'll enjoy what you find.

Sailing on the Light of a Passing Star - 2025 Album

After over a decade of creating instrumental music, and three years of work, I've finally found my voice.

"Now, the voice behind his modest spectacles and quiet demeanour is shared with the world through his third album, Sailing on the Light of a Passing Star.

It's an evolution that Patel himself could barely have imagined three years ago, but after undergoing an intensive regime of vocal development and endless lyrical iterations, his first singer-songwriter album has arrived as an intimate, ethereal travelogue through the journey from heartbreak to hope."

Through Winter Eyes (Music Video)

Creating my own music is how I explore my emotions and the constantly circling sounds inside my head.

Through Winter Eyes is an intimate piano and cello duet from my album A Shifting Lightness, featuring a breathtaking cello performance and accompanied by this beautiful video by Jonathan Zsofi, Yonoko, Josh Allen, and their team.

Film Composition Showreel

Special thanks to the talented and generous filmmakers for trusting me to contribute to their work, and for offering their footage for this showreel.

Alayna - Cherry Tree (Songwriting, Production, Arrangement)

When I think of my most rewarding musical experiences, they often come from working with other people.

I wrote and produced Cherry Tree with Alayna and her long time collaborator Noema Te Hau III, and the day we wrote this song was one of the most special in my life. We then recorded the instrumentation at my studio, complete with a stunning string trio, and later filmed a live studio performance.
